Specialty - detailed geological mapping & finding mineral deposits. Discovered >100 kimberlites (many have proven to be diamondiferous), >300 cryptovolcanic structures, several colored gemstone deposits (including three of the largest ever found), and dozens of gold deposits.  >30 years experience in diamond, colored gemstone and precious metal research and exploration. Mapped the two largest diamond districts in the US, the largest lamproite field in North America & mapped Archean greenstone belts and associated gold mineralization.

 In 1992, received the American Association of Petroleum Geologist's President's Certificate for Excellence. In 2001, awarded the Education Award by the National Rock Hound & Lapidary Hall of Fame. In 2004, the Wyoming Geological Association awarded Hausel their highest honor: the Association’s ‘Distinguished Service Award for outstanding endeavors & contributions to the work and progress of the association. In 2006, presented the Archimedes’s Award for Geological Sciences & recently recognized as one of the Top 100 Scientists in 2007. in 2009, awarded the Thayer Lindsley Award for a Major International Discovery (Donlin Creek) along with 6 other geologists. Specialty. Diamonds, colored gemstones, gold, nickel, Archean geology, detailed geological mapping & report writing. Discovered >100 kimberlites (several diamondiferous), dozens of colored gemstone deposits (including two of the largest in history) and dozens of gold deposits including Donlin Creek, Alaska & the Rattlesnake Hills district, Wyoming.

Experience. >30 years experience research & exploration. Mapped the two largest diamond districts in the US, the largest lamproite field in North America, several Archean greenstone belts. In total, mapped >1,000 km2 of complex geological terrain) & authored >650 published papers, books & maps.

Awards. Recipient of the 1992 AAPG’s President's Award, the 2001 National Rock Hound & Lapidary Hall of Fame’s Education Award, the 2004 Wyoming Geological Association’s Distinguished Service Award, the 2006 Archimedes’s Award for Geological Sciences & the 2009 Thayer Lindsley Award for Economic Geology. 1978-79                   Mapped the Wyoming portion of the Colorado-Wyoming State Line district & discovered 9 diamondiferous kimberlites.

1980                        Completed mapping & geophysical studies of the Sheep Rock kimberlite district, Laramie Range, Wyoming.  

                                Discovered Middle Sybille Creek kimberlite district & surrounding extensive 'kimberlitic' mineral anomalies.

1981                        Discovered significant gold mineralization in Seminoe Mountains greenstone belt, Wyoming.

1982                        Discovered significant gold mineralization in Rattlesnake Hills greenstone belt, Granite Mountains, Wyoming.

1983-87                   Managed kimberlite exploration research programs in southeastern Wyoming.

                               Mapped Copper Mountain Archean Supracrustal belt (at 1:48,000 scale).

1985-89                   Mapped eight 7.5-minute quadrangles of the South Pass greenstone belt and 3 dozen historical mines. Identified dozens of gold anomalies & structural controls for gold.

1988-89                   Mapped significant alteration zones and gold mineralization associated with Donlin Creek – Snow Gulch disseminated gold deposit, Alaska. In 2003, recognized as the largest undeveloped gold deposit in North America.

1990-91                   Mapped the Seminoe Mountains greenstone belt (1:24,000) & discovered gold, zinc, lead & 'kimberlitic' indicator mineral anomalies.

1992-93                   Mapped the Rattlesnake Hills Archean greenstone belt & associated Tertiary epithermal & exhalative gold mineralization.

1993-94                   Mapped the Proterozoic age Cooper Hill mining district, Wyoming.

1995                        Discovered significant Ni and Pd anomaly associated with Cu-Co-Au-Pt-Pd mineralization in the Puzzler Hill pyroxenite massif, Wyoming.

1995                        Discovered gem-quality sapphire, ruby, kyanite & iolite at Palmer, Canyon, Wyoming. Recovered the largest gem iolite gemstone in the world at that time (1,714 carats).

1997                        Discovered gem-quality peridot in the Leucite Hills lamproite field, Wyoming. Identified some diamond-stability minerals in the lamproite complex.

1997-99                   Discovered several kimberlites in the Iron Mountain district, Wyoming, Mapped district at 1:24,000 scale.

2003                        Mapped and identified one of the largest opal deposits in North America in central Wyoming.

2004                        Identified one of the richest iolite-kyanite gemstone deposits in the world at Grizzly Creek, Wyoming. Recovered the largest iolite gem in the world (24,150 carats).

2005                         Recognized significant colored gemstone deposit in southern Laramie Range. Potential resource of 2.4 trillion carats of iolite.

2006                         Mapped the largest lamproite volcanic field in North America (Leucite Hills).

2006-08                  Discovered >200 kimberlitic anomalies, identified 9 new districts & acquired the Sloan Ranch kimberlites for DiamonEx Ltd.
